Happy New Year to the Shark Fleet across Canada. Your CSCA Board is excited to announce a 10-regatta schedule for the 2026 season. A big thank you to all the host clubs for supporting the Canadian Shark Class, allowing us to get the schedule launched so quickly.

Each season we are seeing an increase in participation with more sailors, new and old, getting involved in the class and taking part in regattas. Throughout the year, over 100 Sharks competed in the regatta circuit with several new teams participating. Four regattas exceeded 30 boats! As a class, we continue to see new faces buying and restoring the Sharks that have been on the regatta circuit for many years. A true testament to the longevity of the Shark 24 sailboat.

Last season was also a record year for youth crews taking advantage of the CSCA free registration program. Six youth crews campaigned last summer and the class paid 12 regatta fees for these teams. Please promote this program to the youth in your local fleet. To qualify, the combined age cannot exceed 75 and no one person can be over 28 and the class will pay for two regattas for these teams.

Important notes for 2026:

  • Your 2026 membership fee is now due. Please login to your account, pay your 2026 full or crew membership, and update your personal profile to reflect any changes. Please encourage crews to join as a crew member and stay connected with the class by subscribing to the CSCA. Crew membership is $5.
  • The 2026 virtual AGM is scheduled for March 29th at 10:00 am (EST). We are encouraging local fleets to have their regional meetings after the AGM at their local club. A Zoom meeting link will be sent out in March. To attend the AGM, you must be a paid full or crew member.
  • Shark of the Year will be calculated based on your best 5 regattas and must include the Canadian, World, or Continental Championship.
